CacheCache – Such is life, such is the game
CacheCache is a visual and fragmentary work where you float through a state between life and death. You are welcomed by an attendant who carefully guides you to a wheelchair. Once in the wheelchair, you get VR glasses on, slowly becoming part of another reality. While rocking, you enter a dream-like state that resembles a dream or an afterlife.
The eternal and the ephemeral
When my grandmother turned 102 and spoke less and less and fell more, I decided to create my VR project from her home. I realized that everything around her would go away if she perished. Out of a deep fear of losing her forever, I decided to 3D scan both her house, her most precious objects, and her body. In this way, I allowed the eternal and the transitory to merge. While creating this VR experience, I questioned new media and at the same time made a proposal where the impossible became possible.
