Nobodies Landscape –Between the newspaper shreds we seek meaning in that which decays very slowly
In Nobodies Landscape, the audience enters a room full of newspapers where three people walk very slowly toward the window to tear the newspapers off the windows. Another performer continuously runs to the window to hang new newspapers again. In the corner of the room is a projection showing a film of an old woman breathing, the camera follows her chest, around her chest hangs a watch. There are fluorescent lights in the room that slowly go out, the windows getting emptier, allowing the light from the outside world to come in. This performance must be performed during twilight hours.
This work arose from research into the writings of the playwright Samuel Beckett, combined with the recent loss of my grandmother. In a state of deep mourning, I tried to turn this elusive experience of loss into a performance.
